So this week we didn't get time to plan the lettuce, radish, and carrot seeds. However, the Brassica (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli) are doing well.
We got some decent rains and some cooler temps so things are starting to really produce well -- including the Eggplant, Zucchini, Peppers, and Tomatoes. Speaking of peppers, this Mini Bell plant (pictured above) is pumping out truly mini sweet snacking peppers. They are each about the size of a quarter! They are not much to eat, but they sure are adorable! I'd highly recommend them for a school garden planting.
Surprisingly, the Blackberries are producing again -- not a ton of berries, but just enough to snack on a few each time I visit the garden.
And the cutting garden flowers are doing well enough that I am making bouquets to share with others. The Dahlias in particular are making a great show, but also the Cosmos, Zinnias, and Marigolds are
I hope to harvest a big batch of the basil this weekend to make enough pesto to freeze some for use this winter.
What are you growing in your edible garden this week?
About Fenton Friday: Every Friday during the growing season, I'll be giving you an update on my community garden plot at the Fenton Street Community Garden just across the street from my house in zone 7 Mid-Atlantic MD/DC border. I'm plot #16. It is a 10 ft x 20 ft space and this is our 13th year in the garden. (It opened in May 2011.) See past posts about our edible garden by putting "Fenton" into the Search box above (at the top, left on this blog).
