Baby watermelons have appeared in the plot this week. This is 'Mini Love' that we are growing this from seed. It was an AAS 2017 edible winner.
The past few days have had some good, soaking rains. Finally! After many days of high, blistering heat, this is a relief and the plants are really reacting. The Peppers have many fruit set on them and the Cotton is really filling out.
The only thing that is just sitting there is the Malabar Spinach. It has put on a few leaves, but otherwise is not growing much. I think I will try some fish fertilizer on it this week.
How is your edible garden growing this week?
About Fenton Friday:
Every Friday during the growing season, I'll be giving you an update on my community garden plot at the Fenton Street Community Garden just across the street from my house. I'm plot #16. It is a 10 ft x 20 ft space and this is our 6th year in the garden. (It opened in May 2011.)
