Got this note in my email from the Beekman Boys and did a huge "squee!" for joy:
Congratulations!!
We chose your submission from over 1000 entries to become an "Expert Beekman Heirloom Gardener!" (Because of the number of great entries, we awarded one "Expert" and one "Deputy" Heirloom Gardener for each growing zone. Based on your experience, you were chosen as an "Expert.")
I'm a huge fan of the The Fabulous Beekman Boys show on Discovery's Planet Green channel. If you have never watched, I'd describe it as a cross between Green Acres and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy with a dash of David Sedaris-like wit thrown in. (Please do not ask me to explain who David Sedaris is, google him, listen to some of his NPR selections, you'll thank me.) Check their web site out here: Beekman1802.com.
A second season of the show has been greenlighted and should be on the air soon. Meanwhile, I'm excited to be trialing their heirloom seed kit and connecting with other Beekman fans over at their guest blogger pages soon.

ReplyDeleteJosh and Brent have good taste...as do you in networks/shows (not that I'm biased)!
ReplyDeleteKathy- that' wonderful! And I'm glad to hear they're going to be back on the air - haven't seen them for awhile.
ReplyDeleteRcahel - I just saw where they are back on March 22 - can't wait.
ReplyDeleteAmber - you know it! and if a camera crew wants to visit the seedlings here, they are welcome :-)
Arlene - Thanks and they did pick a novice from each region too to follow- don't know who it is yet from our area.
