Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day: Late Summer Color

This is usually the time of year in DC, that all of our annuals have started to lose energy and most all the flowering shrubs and perennials are long gone. I still have a few spots of color to show here for this Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. So what is blooming in your garden?

African marigolds

Rose of Sharon

Black-eyed Susans

Trumpet creeper vine

Cannas and other tropicals in containers

Abelia

  1. Our borage, black-eyed susans, nasturtiums, and sunflowers are all in bloom. I also count the okra, squash, and pumpkin blossoms, too.

  2. Cardinal flower, ox-eye sunflower, and white snakeroot make for a nice Maryland-colors-themed August garden. It's all native and all perennial. And the hummingbirds love it, too.
