Intern Intro: Khloe Quill

This winter/spring, I have taken on one editorial intern. Look for her author byline in our upcoming Washington Gardener Magazine issues and on this blog. As a first assignment, I asked her to write a short introduction to our readers...

Greetings, readers! I am Khloe Quill, amateur gardener and not-so amateur writer and I’ll be this Spring’s intern for the Washington Gardener. While this is my fourth year as a journalism major at the University of Maryland, I’ll be taking an extra semester just so I can tend to the garden of the house I’m renting in College Park through the summer. (Kidding. Sort of?) I grew up on a farm, so I’ve no shortage of love for the outdoors and working with the land. My work with the Washington Gardener will be one of a couple writing endeavors over the course of my college career—I’ve worked with the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce doing public relations work as well as Her Campus, an online lifestyle blog at the University of Maryland. In my free time, I write short stories, predominantly of the horror variety. I also try to keep my cat from chewing on my plethora of pothos, butterfly palms, and snake plants. This semester should be an interesting one, and I’m thrilled it will be spent working with a magazine whose interests align so closely with my own. However online gardening news, events, and planning look, I promise to make it happen and make it marvelous. ‘Til next time —KQ

  1. Good wishes, Khloe! I look forward to seeing what your share. (And, btw, I love horror short stories, one of my favorites being Stephen King's first collection, Night Shift!)
