Another week of gorgeous fall weather. However, we are starting to go into a serious rain deficit again. I have been watering the seedlings and other fall crops every-other-day, but soon we will have our Cistern access turned off for the season. That means we need to store water in the plot or haul it from home.
Everything is humming along -- including the Peas, Cilantro, Lettuce, Radish, and Carrots. The interns thinned the Carrot seedlings and the Radishes need thinning again soon as they are still too close together to get to theor mature size.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that the 'Fairy Tale' Eggplant growing in a container had set flowers so late in the season. Well, today I saw at least 3 small eggplants forming! I'm going to leave the plant in until either we get a freeze or they are big enough to pick them. The Basil is out now, so we planted the Garlic in its spot. (See the Instagram live video above.) I had to tie up the neighbor's Zinnia that was sprawling over there. I didn't mind it at all these last few months, but it made access to planting a bit hard now.
What are you growing and harvesting in your garden this week?
About Fenton Friday: Every Friday during the growing season, I'll be giving you an update on my community garden plot at the Fenton Street Community Garden just across the street from my house in zone 7 Mid-Atlantic MD/DC border. I'm plot #16. It is a 10 ft x 20 ft space and this is our 15th year in the garden. (It opened in May 2011.) See past posts about our edible garden by putting "Fenton" into the Search box above (at the top, left on this blog).
